Did You Know, the Supreme Court:

• Struck down the ban on bump stocks. Rifles outfitted with bump stocks fired over 1,000 rounds in 11 minutes, killing 60 people at a music festival in 2017. Yet SCOTUS ruled that the ATF exceeded its power when it classified bump stocks as machine guns. 
  
• Reversed 40 years of precedent by overturning the Chevron Doctrine, shifting regulatory power from the Executive Branch to the Judicial Branch, and impacting the crucial regulatory role of agencies like FAA, FDA, SEC and the EPA.
  
• Ruled that government officials can accept gifts in their official capacities as long as they are accepted after the act, in essence wrapping a bribe as a gratuity.
  

Did You Know (Voter Rights)

• More than 60,400 Forsyth voters had their registrations challenged for removal since late 2020. Less than one percent of the challenges were upheld.
  
• On July 1, SB189 becomes Georgia law, lowering the burden of proof for vote challenges and allowing voters to be challenged up to 45 days before an election, in conflict with the 90 day required by federal law.
  

Did You Know (Mental Health in Forsyth County)

• Over 3,000 Forsyth residents sought emergency mental health treatment at Northside Forsyth Hospital between June 2022 and June 2024.
