Obama Administration Accomplishments PDF Print E-mail
Since becoming our 44th President, Barack Obama has accomplished much in a relatively short time. Our intention is to list all he has done and update it on a regular basis. Please check out the latest list of accomplishments here.

IMPORTANT LEGISLATION PASSED BY CONGRESS AND SIGNED

BY PRESIDENT OBAMA SINCE JANUARY 2009

American Recovery and Reinvest Act (“Stimulus Bill”): Enacted the first month of President Obama’s term to jumpstart our economy, create and save jobs, give 95% of American workers a tax cut, and begin to rebuild America’s road, rail and water infrastructure.

Helping Families Save Their Homes Act: To stem the growing tide of foreclosures by providing significant incentives to lenders, servicers and homeowners to modify loans.

Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act: Triples volunteer opportunities to 250,000 citizens for national service for students to retirees; creates new service corps for education, health care, energy and veterans; a Summer of Service for middle/high school students and increased college financial awards.

Health Care for 11 Million Children: Provides health coverage for 4 million more children whose parents earn too little to provide their own insurance, but not too much to qualify for Medicaid, and preserves coverage for 7 million children already enrolled.

Cash for Clunkers: Provided consumers with $3,500 to $4,500 vouchers to trade in old vehicles for ones with higher fuel efficiency – spurring the sale of approximately 250,000 more fuel-efficient cars and trucks, creating jobs, and shoring up struggling auto industry, car dealerships and auto-related businesses.

Omnibus Public Land Management Act: The most significant conservation bill in 15 years, boosting the economy and tourism at 160 mostly rural sites; with 2 million new acres of wilderness; 3 national park units; 1,000 miles of wild and scenic rivers; 1 National Monument and 3 National Conservation Areas.

Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights: Provides tough new protections for consumers – including banning unfair rate increases, abusive fees, and penalties – and strengthens enforcement.

Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act: Provides tool to prosecute mortgage scams and corporate fraud that contributed to the financial crisis and created an outside commission to examine the causes of the financial crisis.

Military Procurement Reform: To crack down on Pentagon waste and cost overruns which GAO says total $296 billion just for the 96 largest weapons systems, increasing oversight and competition.

Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act: Restores the rights of women and other workers to challenge unfair pay – to help close the wage gap where women earn 78 cents for every $1 a man earns in America.

Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act: Guarantees access to lifesaving medical services, primary care, and medications for low-income patients with AIDS and HIV.

Transfer of New GI Bill Benefits to children of Fallen Troops: Expands New GI Bill benefits to cover the full cost of a college education for all children of fallen U.S. service members.

Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE): Provides tax incentives for employers to hire new employees who were previously unemployed and retain them for at least one year.

Student Aid & Fiscal Responsibility Act: Makes the largest investment in college aid in history – increasing Pell Grants, making college loans more affordable, and strengthening community colleges – while reducing the federal deficit by ending wasteful student loan subsidies to banks.

Veterans Health Care Budget Reform & Transparency Act: Ensures reliable and timely veterans health care funding by authorizing Congress to approve VA medical care a year in advance.

Military Construction – VA Appropriations: Strengthens quality health care for 5 million veterans by investing 11% more for medical care, benefits claims processors, and facility improvements.

Worker, Homeownership & Business Assistance Act: To boost the economy and create jobs, provide more unemployment benefits for Americans hit by the recession, expand the 1st-time homebuyer tax credit, and enhance small business tax relief.

Health Care Reform Bill: Provides health coverage to 32 million Americans and makes substantial reforms to health insurance while reducing the deficit by over $1.3 trillion over 20 years.
